Well it’s been a little tough getting out over the last five or so weeks in Toronto with all the snow we’ve had, but all the sidewalks are clear and safe again so there is lots to check out.
Tonight at the Rex you won’t want to miss Rudder who are in from New York for the first of two nights at 9:30 pm. Friday things get going early with the Hogtown Syncopators followed at 6:30 by the Artie Roth Trio. Saturday Pat LaBarbera’s Humber College Student Jazz Ensemble gets things going before the Harley Card CD release at 9:30 pm.
Tonight Cuban pianist Amaury Figueredo is in at the Opal Jazz Lounge.
The Pilot has the Roberto Occhipinti Quartet in Saturday afternoon from 3:30 – 6:30 pm.
An finally, at the Dominion on Queen tonight you can catch the Jack Zorawski Quartet at 8:30 pm.

Well here is some good news in what can seem a lot of doom and gloom at times. A new jazz fellowship established by TD Canada Trust promises a career boost for Canada’s next generation of jazz musicians. The $150,000 donation will be used to establish the TD Canada Trust Music Fellowships in Jazz, which will support musicians attending programs at The Banff Centre in 2008 through 2011.
Yes that’s right, it’s the return of Return To Forever. Legendary jazz/rock fusion group Return To Forever is reuniting for the first time in 25 years for a summer tour of North America and Europe.
Beginning this June, the classic lineup of keyboardist Chick Corea, bassist Stanley Clarke, guitarist Al Di Meola and drummer Lenny White is scheduled to play between 30 and 40 concerts across North America.

John Sherwood will be returning to St. Catherines Friday to performing a concert with Guido Basso, Carol McCartney, Reg Schwager, Neil Swainson and Terry Clarke at Brock University.
