So last week I popped into Sam the Record Man on my way home from work to look for that new Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood album. I climb the stairs to the second floor, but then can’t find my way into the Jazz section. then I realize… it’s because it’s gone! The whole room has been blocked off. “Weird” I think to myself, but I didn’t really need to spend any money so I was off home.
Fast forward to today and I find out that the Jazz room was just the start… the whole place will be gone by June 30th.
So long Sam, and thanks for the memories.

OK, she’s not from Toronto, but Canadian saxophonist Christine Jensen is this week’s guest on The Jazz Session. Based in Montreal, Jensen has recorded three albums. Her most recent project is Look Left (Effendi, 2006), the result of a half-year spent studying and writing in Paris. The Globe and Mail called Jensen “one of the most important Canadian composers of her generation.†Listen to the podcast here
