Charles Mingus – Flowers For A Lady
Catch an interview with French guitarist Francis Jacob over at the Jazz Session. Jacob’s career has taken him around the world: France, Switzerland, Boston, Brazil, Paris and now New York. Along the way, he’s picked up a gift for improvisation and a taste for West African music. On his new CD, Side By Side (2006), he combines his many influences and creates two albums in one — the same tunes, played by two wonderfully different bands. Listen to the podcast here
Art of Jazz organizers announced their second annual series line-up. Composer and trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, vocal jazz icon Jon Hendricks, and Dave Holland are just a few of the names performing at this years five day event.
This year’s series, which returns to Toronto’s Distillery Historic District, will also feature jazz workshops and clinics. Art Of Jazz is a non-profit artist-founded organization dedicated to the cultivation of jazz education and performance.

Toronto’s Cabbagetown Community Arts Centre will hold its “Are You Sitting Down: Musical Chairs for a Musical Charity” event to raise funds on Thursday, March 29th at 6:45PM. The centre is at 454 Parliament, south of Carlton Street. The young student players will perform and bids will be taken on the autographed celebrity chairs.
