Legendary Jazz singer Anita O’Day has lost a lengthy battle with pneumonia, at the age of 87. O’Day began her career in 1934, and recorded hits with Stan Kenton and Gene Krupa. O’Day’s life-long battle with drug addiction was vindicated by the singer’s numerous renditions of hit songs. They include, “Sweet Georgia Brown,” “Let Me Off Uptown,” and “Honeysuckle Rose.” O’Day leaves behind no children or immediate family.
